Frequently Asked Questions
Tailoring
Bespoke tailoring is a centuries-old method to creating clothing. It begins with over twenty measurements, followed by fabric selection and design choices. Skilled artisans draw the pattern (garment diagram) from scratch, then handmake the garment - with multiple fittings to ensure a perfect fit. Attention to detail, such as hand-stitched buttonholes and unique technique, sets bespoke tailoring apart. The process can take over 50 hours, but it results in clothing that is not only perfectly fitted but also reflects the wearer's individual body, making it a symbol of luxury and art
MTM is a modern method of tailoring in which pre-drawn patterns are already established for a variety of sizes. Upon taking a clients measurements, the pre-made pattern can be reviewed and altered slightly to take into consideration some client body shaping.
Upon finalizing the pattern, the garment is fully finished and sent straight to our shop without any intermediary fitting stage. Given that there is less high-level skill, pre-made patterns, and access to a limited range of fabrics, this can be an excellent choice for clients seeking a less time consuming (4-6 week turn-around time) and more cost-friendly alternative to bespoke tailoring.
It is within your right as a client to know what you are commissioning. Not all bespoke processes are the same, but here are a few fundamental ways you can know if a bespoke company is authentic:
Inquire about the training and background of your fitter / advisor. If they have not been trained by a master tailor or have not been formally trained from a bespoke tailoring institution, they are not a bespoke clothier.
Inquire whether the company has a dedicated patternmaker (or "cutter"). If the company does not have a patternmaker that draws the client's garment diagram from scratch, they are not bespoke.
Inquire if the clothier conducts any type of intermediary fittings. This can be either a basted fitting (where the garment is made of the final cloth) or a muslin fitting (where the garment is made of a different material). If neither of these fittings are conducted, they are not a bespoke company.
While the crafting and sewing methods for most bespoke tailors can be similar, the real difference with us is the story told by the silhouette; and that is what we prize over everything. Our approach is to pattern and cut each garment in order to give comfort, shape, and smooth drape over the body. But no few words can describe this so well - the only way to know...is to come see for yourself!
Additionally, unlike other clothiers that use pre-made patterns for garments, we pride ourselves in drawing each client pattern from scratch using our own theory and technique. In a day and age where efficiency supersedes, we remain true to the art form, take our time with each client, and deliver world-class attire. Additionally, our patternmaking is done on-site, resulting in a superior garment fit. Above everything, we value tradition, subtle and unique designs, and creating garments to be comfortable and durable for years to come.
The unique differences stem from the following fundamental aspects:
Bespoke process involves creation of a garment pattern drawn purely from scratch accounting for every unique feature of the client's shaping. Made-To-Measure (MTM) garments are made from pre-made block patterns that take into account client posture, shoulder drop, and other unique body shape factors to a small degree.
Bespoke garments are made almost purely by hand and by skilled & classically trained artisans. MTM garments involve very minimal to no high-level skill involved, which makes it an option for acquiring a good fit, without having to pay for high-level bespoke work.
In terms of design, there are many limitations in MTM clothing; whereas a bespoke tailor can craft almost anything a client wishes to have. Whether it be a unique pocket shape, lapel curve, or vent length, almost anything is possible with bespoke tailoring.
For first-time clients:
After the first appointment, the first fitting for the basted garment will be in 3-4 weeks. A second fitting, if needed, will occur in another 1-2 weeks time.
Upon the completion of the basted fittings, the final garment will be delivered in another 4-5 weeks. Overall, the process can take 10-12 weeks. We can accommodate rush orders as well.
For returning clients:
4-6 weeks, if there are no alterations or changes needed on the previous suit or garment and the availability of the client for at least one basted fitting
We will cover all alteration requests within the first 24 hours of garment delivery. Afterwards, a fee will be incurred.
As a bespoke house, we take pride in bringing to life all client specialty requests to the best of our ability. Additional fees will be added depending on complexity and fabric choice.
For group services we offer discounted rates and are able to accommodate large bespoke or MTM order commissions for business and non-business groups
At this moment in time we do not sell RTW. We are scheduled to open our Made-To-Order lines in Spring 2025
Your garment will not leave our workshop until you are completely satisfied with the commission. For this reason, we do not conduct full refunds - except under rare conditions determined of our team. We can accommodate further alterations and potential remakes.

We only source what is needed for bespoke commissions. Another factor is longevity - our attire is made to last decades given proper care.
In terms of initiatives, we are conducting the following:
Vetting our current and potential suppliers for upholding practices concurrent with sustainable fabric acquisition & development
Reserving stock for more sustainable fabrics with a more environmentally conscious footprint
Currently conducting research on more sustainable cloth to incorporate in our fabric books
